Tennis Anyone?
Jan 30, 2023Tennis anyone?
With the Australian Open nearing it’s 2023 end, I thought it poignant to write a blog about the benefits of tennis, but not in the way you may think!
Tennis is an interesting game. It can be physically demanding: anaerobically, aerobically and strength. At high levels, it demands all of these. At social levels it requires some, but not excessive amounts, of these physical demands.
Psychologically, tennis can be very important. We have always encouraged our children as they were growing to engage in tennis lessons for the reason that It is not only a good skill to acquire, but also for the fact that it is an excellent social game, so wherever they go in the world, tennis is something played on a social level so they can meet new people, having that social interaction.
This leads me to the point of this blog. Social interaction. Evidence is now clear that having good social interaction is so important for our health. The chemical processes that occur within our body; microbiomes, mitochondria, cellular exchanges, blood etc are all improved in people with good social interactions…friends!
So for the benefit of your health, grab a friend and play some tennis.
